Thank You to my
Family + Community
During the past four years, it has been a privilege to serve the District's residents and businesses as one of your Councillors. Having lived in Pemberton Heights for 25 years and served in volunteer and Board roles with many organizations, I used my governance experience, community and business knowledge and collaborative approach when making decisions at Council, Committees and Boards.
I want to acknowledge the endless love, patience, and support I have received from my family during my term on Council. In particular, my wife and daughter always understood and accepted that my role as a Councillor meant that I would spend time away to attend Council meetings, go out and support community events, discuss issues with residents and local businesses, meet with developers, attend conferences and review numerous reports every week. As one can imagine, I frequently brought my work home (and called in for meetings while on some family vacations) and would be thinking about ideas and possible solutions to issues... that wasn't always easy on those around me. I am eternally grateful to them for always standing by me.
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my many friends, campaign volunteers, generous donors, District staff and everyone in the community who has supported me over the past four years. I have met and truly connected with some amazing people during my term. Their commitment and passion are clearly on display when they show up to work or come together to find ways to improve our community. I now count many of them among my good friends and look forward to working with them in the future.
Since being first elected in 2022, my decision-making approach included considering feedback from District residents and businesses, evaluating reports prepared by our professional staff and bringing in my diverse personal and business experience. I realized that some of my decisions would not please everyone and that I would not want to be beholden to small, vocal groups or any individual. There were many challenging issues and I have no regrets with any of the decisions that I made for the greater good of the community and for generations to come.... As my term on Council ends on November 2, 2026, I have many fond memories and I will find other ways to continue to serve my community. 🙂

Key Committees and Boards as Councillor (2022-2026):
-
District Finance & Audit Committee
I worked to keep property taxes and utilities fees as low as possible while maintaining the service levels that residents have come to expect and ensuring that funds were budgeted to upgrade our ageing infrastructure and District-owned buildings. It is not an easy task to balance competing needs and our qualified staff have done a commendable job in managing our complex finances.
-
North Vancouver District Public Library Board
Our libraries have set a high standard by engaging our residents and offering innovative services and programs, such as the StoryLab, Special Collections & Non-Traditional Kits, Indigenous Creator in Residence and Repair Cafe. It is more than just books and there is something for all ages. Due to the passion and hard work of our staff, the libraries are social and knowledge hubs for the Community. I'm proud to have contributed as a Board member.
-
North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission
Having affordable and safe places to engage in a wide range of physical activity, participate in artistic endeavours and experience new culture are key to a vibrant community. As our community evolves, our professional staff at NVRC will be there to meet the changing needs.
-
Canadian Mental Health Association Board (North & West Vancouver Branch)
The challenges our residents, young and old, face in our world seem to be getting more complex and they can be overwhelming at times. I am honoured to have been asked to join the local CHMA Board and bring my experience to help ensure our residents have the support and resources so they experience good mental health and well-being.
